Shades of Black

I love simplicity and for fall you can’t ever go wrong with shades of black. For the last few years I tried to wear more colour in the fall and winter, but this season I am back at it and looking sharp in all black. I think it’s also an easy way out when you are too tired in the morning and just want to throw something together quickly, black is always the answer. A lot of designers this season going black as well. Below is a video for Diesel Fall/Winter 14/15 Fashion Show, Saint Laurent Fall/Winter 14/15 and one of my all time favourite Alexander Wang Fall/Winter 14/15

GIVENCHY COLLECTION SPRING/SUMMER 2015

Tags

CARA

CARA

At Givenchy spring 2015 runway show in Paris, celebrities and brow less Cara took the center stage at the show. In the front row, Kim Kardashian and daughter North West wore matching Givenchy gowns and were accompanied by both Kanye West and Kris Jenner. On the runway, Kendall Jenner walked, as did a number of Givenchy campaign stars including Mariacarla Boscano, Jamie Bochert, Natasha Poly, Joan Smalls, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Edie Campbell and Cara Delevingne.

The clothes were appealing, and will definitely be worn by the aforementioned ladies off the runway, but they were not exactly game-changing. There seemed to be a boho-gladiator theme to the mostly black and white collection, where all looks were paired with knee-high leather boots. Peasant blouses, representing spring’s ongoing boho trend, paired with high-waisted pants (even jeans in some instances) felt sexy and casual. Skirts were short and flouncy. Leather Roman-inspired dresses recalled Tisci’s spring 2014 gowns, and models had their eyebrows bleached (even Cara Delevingne!)

MY VERSION OF A WHITE HOUSE

I really like the simplicity in white interior. I will be moving soon to a new place and currently in search of a perfect house decor. I want to design my own dream house and decorate it how I always wanted. I am happy that my boyfriend and I have the same taste, it will be easy to agree on how we want our little love nest to look.

I want my place to have an airy feel to it, with all white walls, white decor and wood floors. Maybe be with a touch of color here and there for a more vibrant look and feel.

Here are some of the inspiration pictured I pulled from Pinterest.

Fashion Savvy?

NY Fashion Week

NY Fashion Week

Fashion is a big part of my life, I like to express my self through style, I follow to some extend fashion trends and news, I scan pages of fashion magazines and watch highlights from my favourite fashion shows. I won’t lie and say that I am an expert. I only follow things I like, and don’t stress my self out be know the latest news.

But some of us fashionistas out there would like to think they know everything there is to know about fashion world and culture. It is so trendy to have a fashion blog, be fashion savvy, attend all the fashion shows around the world and then blog about it. Some fashion bloggers have made it big and make it their full-time jobs, that’s amazing to me, and all the power to them. But do they really know everything there is to know about fashion, or is it just an image they would like us to believe in.

Here is a video from Jimmy Kimmel show which proves that fashionistas are, well full of you know what..Check it out for your self

Fall/Winter 2014 Look Book

NY fashion week just finished and we saw a lot of fresh new looks for this season. http://mbfashionweek.com/new-york

Cold weather is just around the corner and I would like to share with you some of my favourite looks for cold months ahead. I have been enjoying amazingly warm summer this year in Vancouver, but to be honest I am a bit tired of summer clothes and all the light dresses, shorts, t-shirts, sandals and the heat. I can’t wait to refresh my closet with scars, winter hats, jackets, cozy sweaters, funky socks, stylish boots and trainers. The only thing I am not looking forward to is rain, which we get a lot of here in Vancouver, but I am covered even for those occasions with my sunny yellow Wellies from Burberry and a trendy rain jacket from the Danish company Rains. http://www.rains.dk/

Here are my top picks for Fall/Winter inspirations looks.  You can find more inspirational images on my Pinterest account.

Natural Beauty

Tags

BEAUTYGrowing up in the Soviet Union you often didn’t have the access to fancy foreign cosmetics to keep you looking beautiful. Russian women turned to natural remedies that you can make at home. Current trend these days is actually all about having natural beauty products. Skin care made at home with simple ingredients that you can find in your kitchen on daily basis.
My mom always took care of her self and taught me from the young age to love my skin and care for it. My mom is 60 now and looks amazing for her age, considering that she has always been a sun worshiper all her life.
She use to make all kinds of home masks from oatmeal, strawberries, sour cream, hair remedies from caster oil, olive oil, eggs and mayonnaise or cucumber for your eyes.
I know to some it might sound gross, but in reality it really does work and you don’t end up spending $100’s of dollars in expensive salon products. I am guilty of spending a lot of money on all kinds of products, I do love looking beautiful and taking care of my skin and hair is very important to me and often in the past fell victim for outrageously expensive creams and hair products.
I want to share some of the few basic home care treatments that you can try for your self.
HOME
Olives for motion sickness
Motion sickness is accompanied by increased salivation, which is the body’s way of protecting teeth from stomach acid in the event of vomiting. Olives contain tannins, which dry the mouth out, so eating a few can eliminate the excess saliva. Treating that symptom can reduce nausea and keep the body from vomiting.
Oatmeal to soothe eczema
If you have eczema or simply have dry, irritated skin, try soaking in an oatmeal bath. Add two to three cups of colloidal, or finely ground, oatmeal to warm water and soak in it for 15 minutes. The oatmeal reduces inflammation and is thought to have an antihistamine effect.
Sugar Scrub
Use 2 parts sugar (regular white or brown sugar work great) to 1 part oil (almond, olive and coconut are great), add 1/2 tsp Vitamin E oil (or the gel from a few capsules), add other optional ingredients, and mix well:SUGAR
Here are some other combinations
Pumpkin Pie Scrub: 1 cup of brown sugar, 1/2 cup coconut oil, 1/2 tsp vitamin E oil and 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spices (or just 1/2 tsp cinnamon)
Vanilla Brown Sugar Scrub: 1 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup almond oil, 1/2 tspVitamin E oil and 1 tsp real vanilla extract
Lemon Hand Scrub (for after washing dishes): 1 cup white sugar, 1/2 cup olive oil, 1/2 tsp vitamin E oil, 15-20 drops (or more) of lemon or orange essential oil
Vanilla Lavender Relaxing Facial Scrub: 1 cup white sugar, 1/2 cup almond oil, 1/2 tsp Vitamin E oil, 1/2 tsp real vanilla extract and 15 drops lavender essential oil SKIN
Avocado Face Mask
1/2 very ripe avocado, 1/4 cup honey. Preparation: Mash the avocado in a bowl, then stir in honey. Apply to skin and leave for 10 minutes. Rinse face with cool washcloth.
Listerine to dry out blisters
Mouthwash like Listerine is a powerful antiseptic, which can dry out blisters. Use cotton balls to dab Listerine onto blisters three times a day until they heal.
BEAH
Hair Care
Ingredient
Function
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Hydrates hair as well as acts as a natural conditioner for the hair. Olive oil has long been used for beauty hair care. Olive oil is brilliant for nourishing brittle dry damaged hair, rejuvenating it and giving it a healthy glow.
Milk
Gives hair the soft feel.
Lemon
A natural astringent, lemon closes the pores in the scalp thereby getting rid of excess oil in your hair. A word of caution though, lemon can visibly lighten hair so make sure you use it diluted with enough water, in the ratio 1:2 for lemon and water respectively.
Coconut Oil
An excellent conditioner, making hair feel soft and lustrous.
Honey
For its moisturizing properties. Honey is very important in a homemade hair mask, especially if you have dry dull hair. It has restorative properties that adds moisture to lifeless hair, making it glowing and lustrous.
Apple Cider Vinegar
For eliminating any excess oils and grease in scalp and hair lengths as well as helping clear away irritating itchy dandruff.

Asics Fever

I have lately been obsessed with trainers, especially ASICS brand. Thanks to my stylish boyfriend Owen who got me into this sneaker fever. I have yet to find a cool pair for my self. I find that all the styles I like are usually guys trainers. Particularly not happy with colours for girls. I mean, do I get a selection besides having my trainers come in rays of pinks, blues and purples? I have been looking all over the internet to find the right pair for my self for this Autumn, but with no luck and much disappointment. Someone has to reach out to these companies and tell them that there are girls out there that are actually no different from guys and want their trainers come in neutral colours, that complement their style, and not scream out, look at me, I’m so girlie!

I recommend a couple of sites for you where you can buy trainers and much more.

Just out of the curiosity, compare women’s vs men’s trainers to see what I am talking about.
