For those who love good electronic music you need to know about Moderat. Moderat is an electronic music project that originated in Berlin, Germany. It started as a collaboration between Sascha Ring, also known as Apparat, and Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary, also known as Modeselektor.

I saw them last year at Easter Electrics music festival just outside of London, and I have to say my experience was unforgettable. They have amazing sound and visual effects. I love Apparat and Modeselektor and for me to see them all three play together was priceless.

COLOUR TREND FALL 2013

Fashion shows around the world have been presenting us new collections for Fall 2013.  We saw new trends and new designs, but not only can we see what will be trendy in the coming seasons but also we can observe trending colours for upcoming seasons.

In this article we will look at four cities that play major roles in the fashion world. These cites are; NY, London, Milan and Paris.

Of course we all know that dar colours usually dominate Fall and Winter and light colours Spring and Summer. Some years it is more obvious than others. For Fall 2013 it is very clear that dark colours rule the runways. We see a lot of balk shades on the runways, big increase from last fall. Blue colours were very dominant, about 30%, about the same as last year. Blue colours on the runway were present in all four cities. Shades of red came in second place. Green was a very trendy colour  last fall. This year emerald was chosen by Pantone as the colour of the year, but it was absent from most of the fashion shows this year, could it be because green is a hard colour to wear? I personally like some shades of green, I have three jackets in a military green colour. Other green colours chosen by Pantone were deep lichen green, a mossy, nature-inspired hue – to the more yellow-based Linden green.

NY

NY Fall 2013

Shades of blue and red were dominant during the fashion hows in NY.  We also  saw a lot of navy blues, military greens and some neutral colours.

LONDON

London Fall 2013

London wasn’t going to get the bad weather spoil the mood. Bright colours were dominating at the runway shows in this city. Two most dominant colours were blue and red. Colours like oxblood were dominating for Burberry Prorsum, Felder Felder, and Marios Schwab.  London had the biggest pocket of bright orange from shows like Richard Nicoll and Joseph Conran.

MILAN

Milan Fall 2013

Last season, Milan had a well-balanced diet of pastels. For this fall, however, the city is almost entirely devoid of any proper green or orange, both of which veered to the side of yellow-toned. As a result, there were plenty of mustards and camels to play around with. But then, neutrals are typically more popular for fall, and it’s something we saw in every city.

PARIS

PARIS FALL 2013

Out of  the four cities, Paris definitely had the largest percentage of blue in every variety, domination the third of the colour looks. There was an especially large section of dusty blues thanks to designers like Louis Vuitton and A. F. Vandevorst. Green and orange were predictably absent as well.

My finale conclusion for the Fall 2013 colour trend. Two most dominant colours are definitely blues and reds. As to Pantone number one colour trend of emerald-green, well, not much of it on the runway shows.

A Retrospective, London, Pop Art, Tate Modern Roy Lichtenstein

lichtenstein45

Roy Lichtenstein was one of the most famous American Pop Artists in the 20th century, along with Andy Warhol, Jasper Johns and James Rosenquist.

Lichtenstein is famous for his work based on comic strips and advertising imagery, coloured with his signature hand-painted Benday dots. Now, showcasing at London’s Tate Modern, Lichtenstein: A Retrospective in its first comprehensive account of his art since his death, is a true homage to the dynamic work of pop art pioneer. Spread over thirteen rooms and showcasing some of his earliest and latest work such as  Look Mickey 1961 lent from the National Gallery Art, Washington and his monumental Artist’s Studio series of 1973–4. Other noteworthy highlights include Whaam! 1963 – a signature work in Tate’s collection – and Drowning Girl 1963 on loan from the Museum of Modern Art, New York.

If you love Pop Art and so happen to be in London, do go and see this exhibition, highly recommended, you will enjoy it.

Street Style from NY, Paris & London

Fashion shows are happening all around the world and designers  are showing us freshly created collections for Spring and Summer 2013. But nothing says style like the streets of the cities we live on. That is where we can see fashion savvy, from all age groups, wearing their own creations, stylishly put together. Most designers turn to the streets to see what people are wearing and that’s how they get inspired for their collections, this I know for sure, from working with two fashion companies in Canada, Aritzia and Obakki.
I like people watching and seeing what everyone is wearing, and living in a city like London, I get spoiled by so many hipsters, especially in certain areas like Brixton and Shoreditch.
About my personnel style I have to say that I am a mood dresser, by this I mean I wear different styles depending on my mood. Sometimes, when I am feeling lazy, I like to wear something comfy and easy, with no effort put into it. Other times when I am feeling sexy, I want to wear something eye-catching, with a pair of great heels. A lot of things depend on the weather as well. I feel my best in the Spring and Summer. I like warm weather and sunny days. I have discovered that most of my clothes are for summer. This is very strange because all of my life I lived in countries with really short summers. My dream is one day to move to a country with warm weather all year around, to have a nice tan and to wear dresses, skirts and shorts, which I love so much, at all times!!!

Hello everyone!!!

Let me introduce my self to all of you.

My name is Olya and I want to start by telling you a little about my self, where I come from, and my life interests.

I, like most of you, love all things artsy. By artsy,I mean everything that has to do with  fashion,  beauty, music, photography, art, good books, interesting movies, documentaries, creative people and much more.

I was born in Leningrad, now called Saint Petersburg. At the age of 14 I moved with my mom to Vancouver, Canada. There, I have studied at John Casablanca’s Fashion Institute, where I took Modelling and Make Up Artistry classes, University Of British Columbia where I got History Degree( since I was little I was obsessed with European History). As well I have studied at Vancouver College, where I took Fashion Merchandising and Styling.

Saint Pete’s

Since I was a little kid, I was crazy about music, fashion, art, photography and Russian Literature. Music is a big part of my life. I get inspired by it, I love discovering new bands. Especially I like electronic music. I got into Electronic music scene at the age of 12. One of the first bands I listened to were Prodigy. I just recently saw them for the first time in London. It was amazing to see them after so many years.

I was lucky growing up in Soviet Union to have parents that were very cool, with European ways of thinking, good taste for fashion, music and art. My mom loved photography and often together with her, I use to take many pictures or make homemade videos. Developing pictures was my favorite thing to do, getting in the dark room with a special light and chemicals and seeing your creations come to life. Another awesome part about growing up in Saint Petersburg, was the fact that the city is a historical capital of Russian. Having rich history in arts, architecture, poetry and one of the best Russian music scene in my country.

Saint Petersburg is a city where Russian revolution happened and where great Tsars/Tsarinas like; Peter The Great and Catherine the Great ruled centuries ago.

Van City

When I moved to Vancouver, I missed all those cultural things. I use to visit museums and art galleries all the time, it was free for students. I even remember skipping classes at times with my best friend and going to the Hermitage(one of the best museums in the world). Vancouver is a young and small city, that is lacking in cultural things, that I love so much.  But over all, it is a great multicultural city, with beautiful nature, ocean and mountains. It is one of the greenest cities and one of the most livable cities in the world.

Well, I had to get use to it and make the best of it, I always try to make the best of everything.

In Vancouver I got into fashion industry, working for different fashion companies and after some time I have discovered a really cool profession, called Fit Model. Many of you, just like my self in the past, will have no idea what a Fit Model is. Basically, it is a life mannequin. To do this job you, need to have good proportions, maintain the same body weight at all times, but most importantly, give critical feed back to the designers and technicians , about how the garment feels on the body. It is a cool job, and a great way to make some extra money. I have worked for two of the biggest, Vancouver, fashion companies, Aritzia and Obakki. After sometime I became a Model Booker for Aritzia.

Londinium

After 15 years of living in Van City I finally got bored of it, and my life there and decided to seek new adventures, in one of the coolest cities in the world LONDON.

Leif Grunberger Photography

I made a move to London in June of 2012, leaving my family, friends and work behind.

In London, I have been working as a freelance stylist, for a friend, Leif Grunberger, who is a super talented, fashion photographer, and picking up any other work in the fashion industry that came along.

Now, going back to my blog and what it will be about. Here, I want to share with you all the interesting  things I come across in my daily life. Either it is a new fashion trend, awesome song I just listened to or a movie I just watched, interesting art shows I went to, great places to eat and drink, life stories of my creative friends, or random people, and many other things you might be interested or inspired by.

I HOPE YOU ENJOY WHAT I HAVE TO SAY!
